Ground Rules
Young People have been involved in helping to develop the ground rules
for ‘The Living Room’. These rules are meant to help you feel
comfortable in using the site and to make sure the site is a safe and
friendly place for everybody.
All those taking part in ‘The Living Room’ will be expected
to follow these rules:
- No rude or unpleasant messages
- DO NOT give out your password to anyone else - even your friends!
They are welcome to become a member and just have to contact MYVP for
details
- No foul, abusive or threatening, racist, homophobic or sexist language
- English only – we need to make sure that the site includes everyone
so please do not chat to other people in other languages and try to
limit text speak as not everyone understands it
- Respect the opinions of others even if you do not agree with them
yourself
- Don't give your full name (first name and surname), your address,
school name or your phone number out to other people on the Net. If
someone asks for your personal information contact MYVP immediately
- Do not give out e-mail or web addresses
- Don't try to meet anyone in person - MYVP will be providing opportunities
for young people to get together through volunteering should you want
to get involved and meet others with similar interests
- This site is for young people aged between 14 – 19 so no one
over 19 allowed
MYVP reserves the right to ban any user of the site
who does not abide by these rules.
‘The Living Room’ is moderated during its opening times to
ensure that young people keep to the ground rules. Outside of these hours,
posts will not go up until a moderator has checked them. We would like
everyone to take responsibility for helping to ensure that the site is
safe and that members treat each other properly. Therefore, we ask that
you report messages that you feel go against the ground rules or should
not be there. Each forum has a ‘report this message’ facility
and your report will be emailed to the moderators to check out.
If you are worried about any other person posting messages or have been
asked for personal details or to meet someone else, please contact MYVP
immediately through the ‘Contact Us’
section of this site or by email on myvp@myvp.org.uk or phone 0161 234
